The Business
I have to say, I liked this film – a lot! I know it wouldn’t have appealed to everyone but if you like gangster films that aren’t too serious then this is just for you. It has the typical gangster story line: start at the bottom, rise to the top too quickly, get greedy doing drugs and find yourself back in the gutter again.
But it is good; quite unique and tongue-in-cheek. You’ll squirm in at one scene where a Moroccan kid is shot in the head, but in the next you’ll be either drawling over their money or laughing at something that you shouldn’t be. There is everything in it that needs to be: swearing, guns, money and ship loads of drugs. I wouldn’t say it was as good as Scarface or Goodfellas (as it has been claimed to be) but it’s a good watch – not for all the family though, unless bullets-to-the brain action is what your family like, of course.
Its one of those films you’ll come away from at the end and analyse where you think they went wrong and you’ll be discussing it for years to come. Its not quite edge of your seat stuff but it does leave you wondering ‘what’s he gonna’ do now?!’ Danny Dyer is great! He really gets into the part as if he was the real guy. Some of the accents are a bit poor it has to be said but other aspects of the film make up for it.
So, if you like your gangster films or just generally enjoy watching some good, light entertainment then I would recommend this film for you.
