Cinderella Man
Cinderella Man is about a man called James J. Braddock, played by Russell Crowe, who was once a number one contender to the heavyweight championship until he ran into a series of injuries and America’s great Depression where he loses all of his money and a string of fights. (Here is a picture of James “Bulldog” Braddock in real life.)
And when he has his licence taken away from him it looks like the end for his boxing career. Then, after years of trying to scrape money to keep him and his family alive, he gets another chance; one more fight. He went in as the obvious underdog but won the bout with an absolutely inspiring performance, which entices himself back into the ring. Noticeably, no one thought he could do it but after winning a few fights he once again became a true contender for the title.
After much deliberation he decides to go for it, and wins with an unbelievable fight displaying true heart and determination to become an American idol and hero that will go down in history. It is beyond doubt, an inspiring film that is based on a true story; which adds to the excellence. I know you may think it sounds like another cheesy Hollywood film, but trust me, it isn’t. You’ll love the character from start to finish and come away from watching the film in utter awe.
