Blood Diamond is set in the bedlam and civil war that enveloped in Sierra Leone back in the 1990s. It is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a South African mercenary, and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou), a Mende fisherman. Both of the men are African, but their histories and their situations are very dissimilar. This is until their destinies become connected in a dangerous mission to recover a rare pink diamond that can change their lives forever.

It looks to be a film that is based on real events of the past and will touch upon the true lives of the people in Africa who have to dig diamonds; the violence and corruption. With some great stars like Leonardo DiCaprio it should be a great, eye-welling film for nearly all the family and you can see the trailer here (read more…)

This is a film that is about an ATF agent Doug Carlin, who is lead by déjà vu, through an exploration into a devastating crime. He is called in to recover evidence after a bomb blows up a New Orleans ferryboat. Carlin discovers that what most people believe “is only in their heads” is actually something far more powerful and will lead him on a mind meddling race to save thousands of innocent citizens.

Confused?! Yeah me too. This movie looks to be incredibly complicated and maybe a bit too far fetched – people that can control the past? I’m sure that it’ll make for an interesting watch if there is nothing else on the telly, but I believe that when this film comes out it will be too illusory and corny. This year there is set to be a new film to be released based on real life issues that affect the whole world called Home of the Brave. It stars Curtis Jackson, Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci to name a few.

And is about the lives of a group of soldiers who fight for their country together in Iraq where friends and lives are lost. The film then shows us what we don’t see in the news; how they cope when they’re back at home. It goes into how these heroes have to adapt and move on in life after the valiant and terrifying ordeals that they had to experience during the war (read more…)
