The new Action movie epic, 300, is the tale of Sparta, one of the greatest armies the world has ever seen.

This film is based on the novel by Frank Miller. It is set in the middle of the Persian-Greco war It focuses on the 480 BC battle of Thermopylae, where Leonidas, the Spartan King, led his army of only 300 soldiers into battle against the Persian Army, which was invading.

If legend is too be believed, their heroic sacrifice inspired all of the then great kingdom of Greece to unite together against their Persian enemies. This lead to the origins of democracy.

300 looks like a epic film, packed with heroic battle scenes, non-stop action and plenty of violence…Terrific!

Action aside, there is also a historic element to this story as it is based on true events. Although these events are rarely heard of, they are of vital importance to history. Everyone knows popular stories about ancient civilisations such as Troy, but Sparta is one of the greatest but, lesser known legends.

I for one cannot wait to go and see this movie, it looks amazing.
